{"id":217,"date":"2011-08-23T21:35:21","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T01:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kristinjanz.com\/?p=217"},"modified":"2011-08-23T21:35:21","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T01:35:21","slug":"more-csa-complaints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"More CSA complaints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Um.\u00c2\u00a0 Can you guys try not to put the corn on the cob on top of the baby spinach next time?\u00c2\u00a0 I swear, Wilson Farm has the worst grocery baggers on the planet (I&#8217;ve lost track of how many peaches, plums and nectarines they&#8217;ve ruined), and apparently the same people are putting the CSA shares into the baskets.<\/p>\n<p>We finally got a decent amount of tomatoes.\u00c2\u00a0 For a few weeks, we&#8217;d been getting 2 a week.\u00c2\u00a0 This week we got 16.\u00c2\u00a0 Donald is a little disappointed that we still got the same massive amount of zucchini and summer squash, though.\u00c2\u00a0 And lettuce is back, after a lovely 2-week lettuce hiatus.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m sort of disappointed that heirloom tomatoes are in full swing, and we only got the most basic, boring\u00c2\u00a0tomatoes they grow at Wilson Farm.\u00c2\u00a0 But I can sort of understand.\u00c2\u00a0 The heirloom ones tend to be more susceptible to splitting and cracking, especially around the stem, and once that happens they go bad pretty quickly.\u00c2\u00a0 If we got 16 large heirloom tomatoes, we&#8217;d have to eat nothing but for a couple of days so that they didn&#8217;t rot before we got to them.\u00c2\u00a0 And then we&#8217;d have no tomatoes left for the rest of the week.\u00c2\u00a0 Also, even basic, boring tomatoes are pretty tasty in August, when they&#8217;re locally grown (not the tasteless ones that they pick green in California and blow ethylene gas over to sort of ripen them before they put them out on the shelf in your Massachusetts grocery store).<\/p>\n<p>For dinner tonight, I made Mediterranean couscous salad (with tomatoes and zucchini, as well as other vegetables), tomato and mozzarella salad with basil, and boiled corn on the cob (with lime-cilantro butter).\u00c2\u00a0 Fresh local\u00c2\u00a0raspberries from our CSA share for dessert (even though Donald was eyeing the new cherries I&#8217;d bought; I told him we had to eat the raspberries first, though, because they&#8217;re more perishable).\u00c2\u00a0 Everything was yummy, though Donald opted out of the couscous salad because of the measly 1 cup of diced zucchini I&#8217;d added, and had leftover pork tenderloin with figs from last night instead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Um.\u00c2\u00a0 Can you guys try not to put the corn on the cob on top of the baby spinach next time?\u00c2\u00a0 I swear, Wilson Farm has the worst grocery baggers on the planet (I&#8217;ve lost track of how many peaches, &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/?p=217\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,16,26],"tags":[299,111,17,125,112,124],"class_list":["post-217","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-complaining-about-things","category-cooking","category-food-and-drink","tag-cooking","tag-csa","tag-food","tag-tomatoes","tag-vegetables","tag-wilson-farm"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/217","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=217"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/217\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=217"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=217"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kristinjanz.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=217"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
